- Is a metal roof loud in the rain?
Over solid decking and underlayment with an insulated attic, it is about the same as shingles. The drumming people remember is metal over open framing, like a barn or a porch.
- Can metal go over my existing shingles?
Sometimes, depending on the condition of the roof underneath and what local code allows. We prefer to see the decking, and we explain the tradeoffs either way.
- My old metal roof is rusting, does it need replacing?
Not always. Surface rust on sound panels can often be cleaned, treated and coated. Panels rusted through or seams that have opened up are a different story. We look and tell you which.
