Storm Damage Roof Repair in Winchester, VAWind and hail damage inspected, photographed and repaired
Valley storms come through fast: a line of wind off the mountains, a burst of hail, a limb across the ridge. Winchester Roofing inspects the roof after the storm, shows you what is damaged and what is not, and repairs it.
What storm damage looks like
- Shingles missing or folded back by wind
- Creased shingles that lifted and lay back down
- Dark bruises or pitted spots from hail
- Dented vents, flashing, gutters or downspouts
- Granules washed out at the bottom of the downspouts
- Ridge caps torn loose
- A limb or a tree on the roof
- New stains on a ceiling after the storm
Why it is worth a look
Wind damage is often invisible from the ground. A shingle that lifted and settled back down has a broken seal and a crease, and it will tear off in the next storm. Hail bruises knock the granules loose and the mat underneath breaks down over the following seasons. Found early it is a small repair. Found after a winter it is a bigger one.
What you get from us
Photos of every damaged area, a plain description of what happened, and a written scope and estimate for the repair. If the roof is open, we make it watertight first. See emergency roof repair.
Insurance, plainly
Whether your policy covers the damage is between you and your insurer, and we do not promise any outcome. What we can do is give you clear photos and a written scope you can share with them. Be careful with anyone who knocks on the door after a storm offering a roof at no cost to you.

Storm Damage Roof Repair questions
- How soon after a storm should the roof be checked?
As soon as it is safe. Small openings let water in with every rain that follows.
- Can I check for damage myself?
From the ground, yes. Look for shingles in the yard, dented gutters and downspouts, and granules washed out at the bottom of the downspouts. Stay off the roof, especially when it is wet.
- Does hail damage always mean a new roof?
No. It depends on the size of the hail, the age of the shingles, and how much of the roof was hit. Sometimes it is a repair, sometimes one slope, sometimes nothing at all. We tell you which.
